Hello,

I am trying to understand how I can use my ZOOM C5.1T device with Podium Free to record the sounds that I make.

VST stands for Virtual Studio Technology. VSTs are audio software plugins that you can use with music software to add additional instrument sounds or audio effects. Some examples of instrument sounds would be a Piano, Violin, Trumpet, etc. Some examples of free VST effects would be Choruses, Phasers, and Reverb. Do VSTs Work on Both Mac and PC? This ZOOM device comes with a foot controller that connects to the computer (Windows) using a USB cord. It says here, https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep08/articles/zfx.htm that the ZFX software can be used as a standalone application or as a VST plug-in, which I assume means that it can be opened by a DAW program where the sounds made when using it can be recorded.

Podium is a modern production host that integrates audio recording, VST plug-ins and external MIDI and audio gear. An object based project structure allows for advanced media and device management. Limitations of Podium Free compared to the commercial version: MIDI interface setup is limited to one input and one output. Download Podium Free for Windows to integrate audio recording, VST plug-ins, external MIDI, and audio gear.

How do I open a VST plug-in when using Podium so that I can record the sounds made when using the software. The problem I have is that if I try to record is that it only records the sound of a clean guitar and not the sound created by or when using the software. I believe this to be because I don’t know how to open the VST plug-in when in the Podium environment or perhaps there is a setting or button that I need to set to be able to record the sounds created when using the ZFX software or Guitar Rig 3.

  • You don't need to put your VSTs anywhere in particular, but you do need to give Podium their location. Choose setup/preferences from the top menu, and go to the Plugins tab. Where it says 'VST plugin scan folders' enter the location of your VST folder. The next thing you need to do is start a new project - project/new project from the top menu.
  • I'm liking Podium. Just discovered. Comparing to MuLab Free version. Podium hasn't crashed yet, but MuLab has several times. Podium has a great MIDI editor-great, at least, compared to Reaper's.

This device also came with Guitar Rig 3 so if you are familiar with either one and can guide me how to record the sounds created when using either of these applications that would be great.

Posting a video on youtube.com would be wonderful since I find the menus confusing. How to install vst plugins in nuendo 4. There is something that shows something about VST plug-ins but it starts off with VST’s listed and doesn’t explain how to bring up that view…

Installation

Most of the downloads consist of a zip file with the plugin dll inside. Installation is done simply by extracting the zip file contents to a folder on your hard drive. Some of the larger plugins require installation of additional data files. These plugins are installed by running an installer that will ask you where you want the files installed.

You can install the plugins anywhere you like. The recommended installation path has changed over the years, so the plugin installers may suggest different default installation paths. Since the introduction of VST3, the officially recommended installation path for VST2 plugins is: “C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST2”.

How To Open Vst In Podium Free

Here are some recommended practices that will make it easier for you to maintain your plugin library and easier to import the plugins into host applications such as Podium:

  • Keep your plugins within one root folder. This makes it easier to move your entire plugin collection, and you need only specify the root folder in the Podium plugin setup.
  • Organize plugins in sub folders named by developer name. You may prefer to name sub folders by plugin category, but this makes it more difficult to manage plugin bundles that cover multiple categories. You can reorganize your plugin list in Podium projects independently of the disk folders.
  • If you install both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) versions of the plugins, then keep each platform in separate root folders and use a similar sub folder structure. This makes it easier to port your Podium projects if you switch between the 32-bit and 64-bit Podium versions.
